Per-device profiles, content filters and time-outs on mesh systems: Google Nest WiFi, Amazon eero, Netgear Orbi and TP-Link Deco.
Mesh Wi-Fi systems have largely replaced single-router setups in many UK homes — they cover larger houses, are managed entirely from a phone app, and include family controls designed to be parent-friendly. Google Nest WiFi, Amazon eero, Netgear Orbi, and TP-Link Deco all support per-person profiles where you can group a child's devices, apply a content filter, set bedtimes, and pause the internet with a tap.
Per-person profile

Profiles let you apply different rules to different family members. Group a child's phone, tablet, console, and laptop under one profile so all their devices follow the same schedule.
Content filter
Within the profile settings — typically labelled 'Filter', 'Restrictions' or 'Content access'
Mesh content filters block adult, gambling, illegal, and (optionally) social media sites at the network level. Each system uses its own age categories — choose the one that matches your child.
Bedtime and downtime
Profile settings > Schedule / Bedtime
Pauses internet for the whole profile during agreed hours. Most mesh apps let you set different times for weekdays and weekends.
One-tap pause

Most mesh apps offer a 'Pause Internet' button per profile. Used sparingly, it can support family rules without confrontation.
