What Changed

Apple's UK support page says adults will have to confirm that they're 18 or older to use certain services or features, or to take certain actions on their Apple Account. The methods Apple lists are a credit card that belongs to the adult, a passport, a driving licence, a PASS-accredited Proof of Age card or a selfie; debit cards and gift cards aren't supported, and the selfie option needs iOS or iPadOS 27.2 or later, which Apple released on 26 October 2026. In the UK, Web Content Filter and Communication Safety are turned on automatically for children and teens, and also for adults who haven't confirmed their age. Someone who chooses not to confirm can keep using their device but must confirm their age before they can adjust these safety settings.

What to Review

  • •Check that your child's device is signed in with a Child Account that is part of your Family Sharing group, because Apple says that is needed to manage Communication Safety from Screen Time.
  • •Check your own age-confirmation status in Settings: tap your name, then Personal Information, then Age Confirmation.

Parent Actions

  1. 1Apple says adults who have not confirmed their age must do so before they can adjust Web Content Filter and Communication Safety on their own account. Its page does not say this affects managing a child's settings.
