First-Time Safety
The predictable transitions where preparation pays off most: first phone, first social account, first sleepover, first AI chatbot, first VR headset, first solo walk to school.
Most child safety advice is organised by risk topic. Real family decisions are organised by transition: can my child have a phone yet, are they ready for social media, is the sleepover OK. This hub gives you the calm, decision-ready briefing for each of those moments.
Every pathway includes readiness signs, a parent checklist, points to agree with your child, what to say (and not say), the settings to review, the red flags to watch for, and a 30-day review. If you keep the agreement clear and come back to it at the four-week mark, most of the predictable problems either don’t happen or get caught early.
If your child is in immediate danger, call 999. For non-emergency concerns the right route depends on what happened — see our UK reporting pathways hub.
