Corrections and Updates

How to flag an error, and what happens when you do.

We try hard to get things right, but child safety guidance is a moving target. Phone numbers change, helplines reorganise, statutory guidance is reissued, and platforms rename features overnight. If you spot something on this site that is wrong, out-of-date, or unclear, we want to hear about it.

How to report a problem

Please use the contact page to get in touch. To help us act quickly, include:

  • The full URL of the page concerned.
  • A short description of the problem — what you think is wrong and why.
  • A suggested correction, if you have one, ideally with a UK source we can check.

You do not need to be a professional to report a problem. Parents, carers, young people, and anyone who uses the site is welcome to flag an issue.

What we do when an error is reported

  1. Acknowledge. We aim to acknowledge correction requests within five working days.
  2. Investigate. We check the page against our source library and any UK guidance the reporter has pointed us to.
  3. Correct or explain. If we agree there is an error, we correct it. If we think the page is right as it stands, we explain our reasoning to the person who got in touch.
  4. Update the page.Where a correction is published, we update the page's lastReviewed date so the change is visible.
  5. Log the change. Significant corrections are recorded in the correction log below.

Public correction log

Recent corrections

When we make significant content changes — for example correcting a UK helpline number, updating a piece of guidance to reflect new KCSIE or Ofcom guidance, or removing an out-of-date source — we note it here. This page is updated each time a correction is published.

When we do NOT update

Not every change is a correction. The following are routine and are not logged:

  • Typo and spelling fixes.
  • Formatting changes — punctuation, list style, heading levels.
  • Layout improvements that do not change the substance of the advice.
  • Link housekeeping where the underlying source has not changed its position.

This is practical educational content to support families. For case-specific concerns about a child's safety, contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or your local safeguarding team.
