What Changed
Meta says that from 5 October 2026 parental supervision is available in the Meta AI app globally. Parents and guardians who turn it on can see the topics their teen has been asking about over the past seven days, but not the conversations themselves. Parents can also switch a teen from the default 13+ setting to a stricter Limited Content setting, which further limits the kinds of conversations their teen can have in the app. This is separate from Meta's AI characters: a January 2026 update from Meta said it was temporarily pausing teens' access to existing AI characters until an updated experience is ready, and we have not found a Meta page saying that has changed.
What to Review
- •If your teen uses the Meta AI app, check whether supervision is switched on. Meta says parents can set it up in the Meta AI app or in Family Centre.
- •Decide whether the default 13+ setting or the stricter Limited Content setting suits your teen.
Parent Actions
- 1Use the topics view as a starting point for a conversation with your teen rather than as a substitute for one, since it does not show the conversations themselves.
