What Changed

Roblox filters text chat for everyone, but more strictly for accounts registered as under 13, and some features — voice chat among them — are only available to users who complete age verification showing they are 13 or over. In practice the account's registered age and verification status determine how filtered a child's experience is, and a child using a false age or another person's documents can end up with features meant for older users. Roblox provides parental controls, including a linked parent account, a settings PIN, and Account Restrictions that limit chat and restrict play to a curated set of experiences.

What to Review

  • Check the date of birth and verification status on your child's Roblox account, and look at which chat mode is actually active.

Parent Actions

  1. 1For younger children, enable Account Restrictions and protect the settings with a parent PIN.
  2. 2Make clear why verifying with someone else's ID is a genuinely bad idea — it strips away the protections designed for their age.
