What Changed

Roblox says age-based Roblox Kids (ages 5 to 8) and Roblox Select (ages 9 to 15) accounts became globally available on 16 June 2026, with additional reviews for games available to users younger than 16. In Kids accounts all chat is disabled unless a linked parent allows in-game chat, and games are limited to those rated Minimal or Mild; Select accounts can play games rated Minimal, Mild or Moderate. Roblox says users who haven't completed an age check cannot chat on Roblox, regardless of their age, and that those users are placed in a Kids or Select account based on the age they entered at sign-up. Parents can change chat settings and allow or block specific games until their child turns 16, and set screen-time and spend limits until they turn 13. Roblox adds that ages and standard settings may vary by region.

What to Review

  • •Check which type of account your child has and that the age is right: Roblox says a parent with a linked account can correct a child's age through Parental Controls once after the initial age check.
  • •In your linked parent account, go to Parental controls, choose your child, and review the Communication settings.

Parent Actions

  1. 1Link your own account to your child's so you can manage chat, games and spending from Parental Controls.
  2. 2Talk to your child about why chat needs an age check and why they should use their real age.
