How to Report on Instagram
How to report posts, stories, reels, accounts, or messages on Instagram that may put children at risk.
Go to the content or account
Navigate to the post, reel, story, comment, message, or account profile that you want to report. Instagram allows you to report all content types directly from the app.
Tap the three-dot menu
On a post or reel, tap the three dots in the top right corner. On a story, tap the three dots at the bottom. On a profile, tap the three dots at the top. In messages, press and hold the specific message.
Select 'Report' and follow the prompts
Tap 'Report' and choose the reason. For child safety concerns, select 'It's inappropriate' and then the most relevant sub-category, such as 'Involves a child' or 'Nudity or sexual activity'. Instagram will guide you through additional options.
Submit your report
Review your selections and tap 'Submit Report'. Instagram's review team will assess the content against their Community Guidelines. You can check the status of your report in Settings > Help > Support Requests.
Take additional protective steps
Consider restricting or blocking the account to limit their ability to interact with your child. Review your child's follower list and privacy settings. If the content involves child exploitation, report directly to CEOP or NCMEC in addition to Instagram.
