How to Report on Meta Quest VR
How to report inappropriate behaviour, content, or users in Meta Quest virtual reality environments to protect children.
Use the in-headset reporting tool
While in a VR experience, press the Oculus button on your controller to open the universal menu. Select the people icon to see nearby users. Select the user you want to report and choose 'Report'.
Choose the reason for your report
Select the category that best describes the issue. For child safety concerns, choose 'Involves a child' or 'Harassment and bullying'. Provide a clear description of what happened, including any inappropriate language or behaviour.
Report from the Meta Quest app
You can also report users from the Meta Quest mobile app. Go to the People section, find the user, tap the three-dot menu, and select 'Report'. This is useful if you were unable to report during the VR session.
Block the user and set up parental controls
Block the reported user to prevent future interactions. Set up Meta Quest parental supervision through the Meta Quest app by linking your account to your child's. Review app permissions, set play time limits, and restrict age-inappropriate content.
Report to authorities for serious concerns
If the interaction involved sexual behaviour, grooming, or threats to a child, report to CEOP (ceop.police.uk) and your local police. VR environments present unique risks as interactions feel more immersive and personal than on flat-screen platforms.
This is general educational guidance, not professional advice. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) or 911 (US).
