How to Report on Reddit

How to report posts, comments, subreddits, or direct messages on Reddit that may be harmful to children.

1

Locate the content to report

Find the post, comment, direct message, or subreddit that concerns you. Reddit allows you to report content from both the app and the website.

2

Click or tap the report option

On a post or comment, click the three-dot menu and select 'Report'. On mobile, tap the three dots and choose 'Report'. For a subreddit, visit the community page and use the three-dot menu to report the entire community.

3

Choose the reason for reporting

Select the most appropriate category. For child safety, choose 'Sexualisation of minors' or 'It threatens violence or physical harm'. For other concerns, select the category that best matches the issue.

4

Provide additional details and submit

Add any context that helps moderators understand the issue. Submit your report. Reddit's Trust and Safety team reviews reports and takes action based on their Content Policy. Community moderators also review reports within their subreddits.

5

Report to authorities for serious concerns

If the content involves child sexual exploitation, report to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and CEOP in addition to Reddit. Block the user to prevent further contact. Consider reviewing your child's Reddit use, including which communities they follow.

This is general educational guidance, not professional advice. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) or 911 (US).
