How to Report on Spotify
How to filter explicit content on Spotify and report inappropriate playlists or tracks to protect children using the platform.
Open Spotify Settings
Open the Spotify app and tap your profile picture or the gear icon (on mobile) to access Settings. On desktop, click the drop-down arrow next to your username and select 'Settings'.
Turn off explicit content
In Settings, find the 'Explicit Content' section. Toggle off 'Allow Explicit Content'. This filters out tracks marked as explicit from search results and playback. Note that this setting applies to the account — consider whether your child is using a shared account or their own.
Report an inappropriate playlist or track
To report a playlist, open it and tap the three-dot menu (more options). Select 'Report'. To report a track, tap the three dots next to the track title and select 'Report'. Choose the most relevant reason from the options provided.
Consider a Spotify Kids account
For younger children, Spotify offers a separate Spotify Kids app. This requires a Spotify Premium Family plan and provides a curated, age-appropriate library. Parents can manage the account from the Family Mix on the main Spotify app.
