How to Report on X (Twitter)

How to report harmful content, accounts, or direct messages on X (formerly Twitter) that may put children at risk.

1

Navigate to the content or account

Find the post, reply, direct message, or account profile that you want to report. X allows you to report individual posts, entire accounts, direct messages, and Spaces.

2

Tap the three-dot menu

On a post, tap the three dots in the top right corner of the post. On a profile, tap the three-dot menu icon. In direct messages, press and hold the specific message.

3

Select 'Report post' or 'Report account'

Choose the appropriate report option. Select the reason that best describes your concern. For child safety, choose 'Abusive or harmful' and then 'Involves a child'. Follow the prompts to provide additional detail.

4

Submit your report

Review your selections and submit the report. X's safety team will review the content against their rules. You can check the status of your report in Settings > Help Centre > Your reports.

5

Block the account and report to authorities if needed

Consider blocking the account to prevent further contact. If the content involves child sexual exploitation or immediate danger to a child, report to CEOP (ceop.police.uk) and your local police in addition to the platform report.

This is general educational guidance, not professional advice. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) or 911 (US).
