EE Content Lock & Parental Controls Guide
How to manage EE Content Lock for mobile and EE Smart Hub parental controls for home broadband.
Overview
EE provides parental controls across both its mobile network and home broadband service. EE Content Lock is active by default on all EE mobile connections, filtering adult and harmful content for children's SIMs. For home broadband customers, the EE Smart Hub includes built-in parental controls that can be managed through the My EE app or the Smart Hub's web interface.
EE Content Lock on Mobile
EE Content Lock is switched on by default for all EE pay monthly and pay as you go SIMs. It prevents access to adult websites and harmful content when your child uses their phone on EE's mobile network. To confirm or adjust Content Lock settings, sign in to the My EE app, go to 'Account' and select 'Manage your add-ons' or 'Content controls'. You can turn Content Lock off for SIMs belonging to adults on the account whilst keeping it active for children.
EE Content Lock is on by default for all SIMs — check your settings to ensure it is active on your child's SIM specifically.
EE Smart Hub Parental Controls for Broadband
If you have EE broadband, log in to the Smart Hub's admin panel by typing 192.168.1.1 into your browser whilst connected to your EE Wi-Fi. Go to 'Parental Controls' to access filtering options. You can block content categories, restrict access to specific websites, and view connected devices. The Smart Hub also supports EE's network-level filtering, which can be enabled through the My EE app under 'Broadband' settings.
EE Smart Hub parental controls are accessed at 192.168.1.1 and can be supplemented with network-level filtering via the My EE app.
Scheduling Internet Access
Through the EE Smart Hub admin panel, you can set time-of-day restrictions for specific devices or for the whole network. Create a schedule by going to 'Parental Controls' > 'Time controls' and defining allowed and blocked hours for each day. This is effective for enforcing bedtime rules without manually disconnecting devices each evening.
Use Smart Hub time controls to automatically disconnect your child's devices at bedtime.
Safe Search and Content Filtering
EE's network-level filtering enforces SafeSearch across Google, Bing, and YouTube for devices covered by the filter. This prevents your child from disabling SafeSearch through their browser settings. For mobile, Content Lock includes SafeSearch enforcement as part of its filtering. Both can be managed through the My EE app.
Network-level SafeSearch enforcement via EE means your child cannot disable it from their device.
Managing Controls via the My EE App
The My EE app is the central place to manage both mobile Content Lock and broadband parental controls. Download it from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with your EE account. From the app you can toggle Content Lock for individual SIMs, view data usage, manage broadband settings, and receive alerts. Having everything in one app makes it straightforward to keep controls current as your children grow.
The My EE app brings mobile and broadband parental controls together in one place for easy management.
